News has travelled that the Weekend has spent a total of $7m (£5.1m) on his performance at the Super Bowl halftime show. Even-though the show marks the biggest gig for the artist, working at the event doesn’t pay much. This doesn’t exactly matter much for big popstars like The Weekend.

The is no payment for performers for doing the half time show. They simply get a budget for their performance to spend as they wish. The production costs can easily cross $1om (£7.5m).

The Weekend decided that for his vision this amount given would not be enough. He added his own money instead. However, he won’t lose out by not getting paid.

The Super Bowl halftime show can reach as many as 100 million people; after Justin Timberlake headlined in 2018, his music sales rocketed by 534 per cent. Therefore, it’s highly likely Tesfaye will earn back what he spent on the performance, and then some.
