Facebook Dating has finally hit the United States after its initial introduction in other countries last year, allowing Facebook users ages 18 and up to use its new dating service features. Facebook Dating lives within the existing Facebook app, but users must create a separate profile for it, with only the information carried over from your existing account being your name and age.

It will allow users to match with each other based on location, preferences, and more. You can even set presets to match with people attending the same Facebook event or are part of the same Facebook group as you. Facebook is adamant on privacy within the app, and as such, users you’re Facebook friends with won’t show up as a potential match by default, but this option can be turned on. You can also preemptively turn off matching with friends of friends.

People can be blocked from seeing your Dating profile as well, even if you still want the user to have access to your Facebook and Instagram accounts. Instagram will be integrated into the Facebook Dating app, allowing users the opportunity to showcase their posts in their Dating profile. Facebook has plans to also allow Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories to appear on the Dating app, which will still erase after 24 hours.

Lastly, in order to protect users during first-time encounters, Facebook will allow users to open Messenger from Dating and tell a friend the name of the person you’re going out with as well as the time and place you both intend on meeting up.
